Father David Kidd and his wife, Margaret

Born and raised in Fisher, Champaign County, Illinois, the Rev David Kidd moved with his family to Gainesville, Florida in 1953. He graduated from PK Yonge Lab School in 1954 and from the University of Florida in 1959, receiving a BS in Forestry with honors. Commissioned at Second Lieutenant, Regular Army Artillery, he reported for duty with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC, a week after graduation.

In April 1960, then-Lt Kidd and Margaret Clark Bache were married at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Gainesville. After a week's honeymoon in Sarasota, where Margaret was intern teaching, he returned to duty at Ft. Bragg in preparation for deployment to Okinawa, while she returned to Florida State University to graduate in August, joining him on Okinawa in October 1960. Fr. Dave and Margaret have two daughters; Robin, born in Okinawa in 1961, and Karen, born at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, in 1963. They have three grandsons.

Fr. Dave resigned his commission in October 1954 and went to work as a professional forester with Hudson Pulp and Paper Corp in Palatka, Florida. In August of 1973, Fr. Dave and Margaret packed up the family and moved to Evanston, IL, where he attended Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, graduating in May 1976 and returning to Florida to serve as Curate at St. Catherine's, Jacksonville and Deacon/Priest-in-Charge at St. James, Macclenny. In December1978, Fr. Dave accepted a call to serve newly-formed St. Alban's, Chiefland and historic Christ Church, Cedar Key, and later, St. Barnabas, Williston. From August 1987 through October 1996, Fr. Dave served at Church of Nativity, Jacksonville.

Twenty years of service as a priest in the Diocese of Florida came to an end when Fr. Dave accepted a call to Church of the Transfiguration, Rome, and St. James Church, Cedartown in the Diocese of Atlanta. The move also marked the end of Margaret's 22 years as an elementary school teacher in the State of Florida. Fr. Dave joined Margaret in retirement on July 1, 2002, and they returned to Florida, living as neighbors to the North Florida Council Boy Scouts of America's Baden Powell Scout Reservation south of Melrose.

Fr. Dave served, on call, as a supply priest for a number of congregations in the Diocese prior to accepting the call to be Interim Vicar for St. Bartholomew's beginning February 1, 2005.
